The climate on Cavallo Island
Located between Corsica and Sardinia, in the very heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Cavallo Island is a natural sanctuary. Famous for its beaches and panoramic views, the island is the largest marine nature reserve of the whole France.
Thanks to Cavallo Island’s Mediterranean climate, summers are hot and dry, and winters are mild and humid. Autumn and spring, on the other hand, have more balanced temperatures, even though rainfalls are more frequent. These conditions make it possible for a variety of Mediterranean plants to grow, making Cavallo Island even more picturesque, to be enjoyed peacefully and in complete tranquility.
The Maquis on Cavallo Island: the uncontaminated Mediterranean scrub of Corsica
Cavallo Island truly is a jewel of the Mediterranean Sea. Plunged in the crystalline waters and the fragrances of Lavezzi Archipelago, between Corsica and Sardinia, it has always been far from any form of mass contamination, and so it must remain.
There are no motor vehicles circulating on the island. The only way to get around it is on foot, or on board of comfortable electric Golf Karts.
Cavallo Island is a private island, only accessible to the owners of the wonderful natural Villas and to hotel guests.
Unique scents and colors on Cavallo Island
The Maquis – Mediterranean scrub – and its spontaneous aromatic herbs, such as helichrysum, myrtle, wild lilies, wild rosemary, wild chamomile, eucalyptus, wild garlic, aloe vera, preserve and maintain their scents, contributing to the natural and unique beauty of the island.
